| Prince, a Utah Native born Sulphur Stallion |
|
Ron Roubidoux, "Prince is definitely Spanish,
he's turned into a really nice looking Sulphur horse, one of the best I have seen. I loved his leg stripes!" At the 1996 adoption, I really
wanted him. "Prince shows all Spanish Mustang features, being a smaller
horse, a characteristic of Spanish Mustangs" |

A huge THANK YOU to Dr. Hardy Oelke, (renowned German Horsemen
and author), for sending me the two (2) photos from his private photo collection
of "baby" Sulphur Prince. Mr. Oelke's
photos were taken in 1996 at the BLM corrals, Delta Utah AND the
photo of
Ron Roubidoux and Gale Bennett at the Sulphur foals corral.
(Roubidoux blue shirt and Bennett pink striped shirt). |

Ron Roubidoux said, "I remember that Hardy and I went to the
BLM corrals in Delta a few weeks before the 1996 Sulphur Adoption and we saw the yearling Prince".
Gale Bennett was talking about that Grullo colt, the #1056, being brought in
with his mother. Gale said, "#1056, wasn't quite a yearling and that he was
still nursing his mother and a couple of days before your (Hardy's and Ron's)
visit, the mom was released back out on the range".

September 1996. What a traumatic week for the little
"Sulphur Prince", he had been chased by the BLM,
trapped, shaved, branded, vaccinated, lost his mom, weaned and then stuck in
a dusty corral with 50 other little Sulphur foals
who were captured on Mountain Home: RIO, Cisco, Mere, LaBlanca, Chulito Ballo,
Sulphur's Candy Stripe, Sulphur's Riddler, Sulphur's Sunshine and Sulphur's
Dona Wana, Senior Diego and Sulphurs Majesty
(deceased) was owned by the Outlaw Ranch. Hardy Oelke, visited
Utah to evaluate the Sulphur horses and included several of them in his book
"Born Survivors on the Eve of Extinction". |
